Soki is built around real relationships, and some of our members are under 18. These rules are strict on purpose. They apply to everything you post, say in messages, put on your profile or do on a call.
Protecting young people
Y1No sexual content involving anyone under 18
No sexual or sexualised images, text, requests or roleplay involving a person under 18, including drawings and edited images. No nudity of anyone under 18.
Zero tolerance: the account is banned on the first confirmed breach.
Y2No grooming or secret contact with young people
Adults must not build secret or romantic contact with someone under 18: no asking them to keep secrets from parents, to move to another app, to send photos, to meet up, or to share where they are. Compliments and gifts used to build that kind of trust count too.
Zero tolerance: the account is banned on the first confirmed breach.
Y3Don't expose young people's private details
Don't post or ask for a young person's home address, school, phone number, daily routine, live location or other contact details, including your own if you are under 18.
Usual steps for repeat breaches: Remove the content → Suspend for 7 days → Suspend for 30 days → Ban the account.
Y4Be honest about your age
Don't lie about your age to reach young people, or to get around the protections for under-18 accounts. Adults pretending to be young, and young people pretending to be adults, will be asked to verify their age.
Usual steps for repeat breaches: Suspend for 7 days → Suspend for 30 days → Ban the account.
Violence, threats and self-harm
V1No threats of violence
No threats or calls for violence against a person or group, and no encouraging others to hurt someone. Jokes between friends that are plainly not threats are fine; anything a reasonable person would take as a real threat is not.
Usual steps for repeat breaches: Suspend for 30 days → Ban the account.
V2No glorifying violence or terrorism
No praise or support of terrorism, mass violence, violent extremist groups or people who committed such acts, and no graphic violence posted to shock or to mock victims.
Usual steps for repeat breaches: Suspend for 30 days → Ban the account.
V3No encouraging self-harm or suicide
Never encourage, instruct or push someone toward self-harm, suicide or an eating disorder. If you are struggling, say so: support is better than silence.
Usual steps for repeat breaches: Suspend for 7 days → Suspend for 30 days → Ban the account.
Sexual content
X1No explicit sexual content
No pornography or explicit nudity or sexual acts. Non-explicit photos (swimwear, gym, art, breastfeeding, health information) are allowed on adult accounts.
Usual steps for repeat breaches: Remove the content → Suspend for 7 days → Suspend for 30 days → Ban the account.
X2No intimate images without consent
Never share, or threaten to share, private sexual images of someone without their consent, including 'revenge' images and sexual blackmail.
Zero tolerance: the account is banned on the first confirmed breach.
X3No unwanted sexual contact or solicitation
No sexual messages or requests to people who haven't clearly welcomed them, no repeated advances after someone says no, and no offering or asking for sex for money or favours.
Usual steps for repeat breaches: Suspend for 24 hours → Suspend for 7 days → Suspend for 30 days → Ban the account.
Harassment and hate
H1No harassment or bullying
No targeted insults, name-calling, humiliation, pile-ons, stalking or repeated unwanted contact. If someone asks you to stop, stop.
Usual steps for repeat breaches: Warning → Suspend for 24 hours → Suspend for 7 days → Suspend for 30 days → Ban the account.
H2No hate
No attacks, dehumanising language or calls for exclusion aimed at people because of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or serious illness.
Usual steps for repeat breaches: Suspend for 7 days → Suspend for 30 days → Ban the account.
H3No sharing people's private information
Don't post someone's private information (home address, phone, workplace, ID, private messages or photos) without permission, or encourage others to find or contact them.
Usual steps for repeat breaches: Remove the content → Suspend for 7 days → Suspend for 30 days → Ban the account.
Illegal and dangerous
I1No illegal content or activity
No selling or arranging illegal drugs, weapons, stolen goods or fake documents; no human trafficking or exploitation; no other content that is illegal where we operate. Material involving the abuse of children is reported to the authorities.
Usual steps for repeat breaches: Suspend for 30 days → Ban the account.
Honesty and fair play
F1No scams or fraud
No deceiving people out of money, accounts or information: fake giveaways, fake investments, romance scams, phishing, or asking for payment to 'release' something.
Usual steps for repeat breaches: Suspend for 30 days → Ban the account.
F2No impersonation
Don't pretend to be another real person, organisation or member of staff. Clearly labelled parody is fine.
Usual steps for repeat breaches: Suspend for 7 days → Suspend for 30 days → Ban the account.
F3No spam or manipulation
No mass unsolicited messages, repetitive posts, fake engagement, link farming or automated activity meant to manipulate people or the feed.
Usual steps for repeat breaches: Remove the content → Suspend for 24 hours → Suspend for 7 days → Ban the account.
F4Don't dodge safety measures or abuse reporting
Don't make another account to get around a suspension, ban or block, don't hand out contact details to move young people off Soki, and don't file false or malicious reports.
Usual steps for repeat breaches: Suspend for 7 days → Suspend for 30 days → Ban the account.
How reports are handled
- Anyone can report a post, comment, message, profile or page. Reports about young people’s safety, threats and illegal content reach our team straight away, and a post reported for child safety is hidden from others until a person has looked.
- An automated reader (an AI service) may read the reported content against these guidelines and say which rules look broken and how serious it is. It only advises. A member of our team decides every outcome, and nobody is suspended or banned automatically.
- The steps above show where a repeat breach usually leads. Each confirmed breach counts for 12 months. A suspension or ban always shows you which guideline was broken.
- Context matters: banter between friends, news, education, clearly labelled fiction and quoting something to condemn it are not breaches.
- If you think we got it wrong, you can appeal, including from a suspended or banned account. A person reviews every appeal, and if we were wrong the content, suspension or ban is reversed and the strike is removed.
- Filing false or malicious reports is itself a breach (F4).
